Bush requests more money for international AIDS fight

Before I begin, I must state exactly how I feel about this article, otherwise I know someone out there will rip my head off because they didn’t understand to the full extent of what I meant.

I am 3000% happy that Bush finally sees that there are other things in this world that need funding than war.
I am only 60% satisfied with his priorities. If it were anyone else that had these priorities, it wouldn’t be such a big deal, but these are coming from the man that runs our country so carelessly. (By that I mean that maybe he would do more to end the war in Iraq if his daughters were fighting in it).

When I was in 5th grade, we were out at recess one day and I was running around (as were all of the other kids), but I happened to run into one of my friends, and we bumped heads — hard.

We were both hurt pretty bad, except that when my friend got back up, he was bleeding a little and I was not. It was then that I understood what a priority is. The teacher took him inside first and came back out for me as soon as she got him to the nurse.

With that same idea in mind, I, again, am happy that he is doing this, but he should have requested this money before he requested the war funding.
I think he sees it like this. What do I do? Save lives by fighting AIDS, or save lives by funding the war?
Well, as I have made it clear before, funding a war is obviously not going to save lives.
Here are some statistics. These numbers are from the US ALONE.

  • In 2001, there were 43,158 new cases of HIV or AIDS in America, and 14,477 deaths
  • There were, as of 2005, 1.2 million people living in America with AIDS
  • The war in Iraq: About 3,500 American troops have died.

Almost 4 TIMES as many people have died from AIDS in THIS COUNTRY than from the war in Iraq.
I see something seriously wrong with the fact that Bush requested war funding first.

Bug again, don’t get me wrong, I AM happy that he is finally doing something good for our country. Its about damn time.

  1. Yes! Good will come from the White House before Bush leaves office!

  2. How come Bush can spend $$$$ on the occupation in Iraq and $$$ on Aids, but when it comes to $$$ for the Gulf States ..I hear they are still waiting on $$$. I recently met a couple that were in New Orleans last month and they said they cried because it looked so bad.

Bush, and the government of the United States of America, SHAME ON YOU!!! Bush is free to spend the taxpayers but what about the Gulf States? What about New Orleans, that still has boarded up houses and trash all over the neighborhoods. Disgusting and a American tragedy. .

  3. Nice point. Bush not only spends ridiculous amounts of money with mixed-up priorities, but he also refuses to pass the necessary tax raises that he needs to fund his ventures, instead taking out huge loans from other countries and making the dollar worthless compared to the pound or euro.
