Scooter Libby and JUSTICE
Why do you think that Scooter Libby’s sentence needs to be commuted? Why is it you opinion that a man who outed a CIA agent, lied to the FBI, and got convicted for obstruction of justice should serve no jail time?
“I respect the jury’s verdict. But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive,” Bush’s statement said. “Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby’s sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison.
My mom is an addict and she sold drugs. She is in a Texas prison for up to nine years, and her crimes did not hurt the CIA, the search for WMD, or a CIA front company. She sold drugs. Why does she get 9 years and Scooter gets zero?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh… that felt good. Now, after my anger, I’m kind of glad. Scooter Libby committed a crime and must be punished for it, but this basic pardon will give us the ammunition that we need to take that SOB down.
right on Cassie. *Very* valid questions and good points made. Let us know if you get a reply. (but don’t hold your breath) - *s*
Well, of course, your personal experience cuts through all the high-minded BS. Scooter Libby won’t be going to prison because the thought of one of “their own” in the big house makes the DC elites squirmy.
Those folks don’t think they could ever be in your mother’s shoes, but they can see themselves in Scooter’s very easily.
Ironic, since without serious connections of his own, W could have been in a Texas prison for cocaine posession in his young and stupid days.

Sorry about your mom but there is one set of rules for normal people and one set for those with money. Either we fight back now, move or accept that were all wage slaves.
This is basically a pardon with better PR, since the religious right is “donating” a ton of money to Scooter Libby so that he doesn’t have to pay a cent of his fine.
How about probation? That’s not exactly fun.
“Libby’s friends and supporters have raised more than $5 million to cover legal fees and were continuing to raise money but Libby paid the fine himself, according to someone close to the fund who spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the account are private. The cashiers check filed with the court was issued in Libby’s name.”
He paid it himself.
