Bush to veto kids health insurance bill

Uh oh. This just kinda makes me mad.

For one, I know, as well as you know and your neighbor knows that the Heath Care system in the United States just isn’t cutting it.

Talk of Universal Heath Care has been in the air for quite some time now. Yet, a UHC bill has not been passed.

It seems to me that our government just has a problem taking care of its people. You all should know how I feel about the war if you have read any of my previous posts, and now this. This proves that the level of responsibility the government is at is significantly lower than where it needs to be.

Here’s what the bill entails

It would increase funding for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program by $35 billion over five years, to add an estimated 4 million people to the program that provides insurance coverage for children from families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private insurance. The joint federal-state program currently provides benefits to roughly 6 million people, mostly children.

I’m not sure how this is a bad thing.

Here are some stats.

Nation % of population covered by public health care
France, Austria 99
Switzerland, Spain, Belgium> 98
Germany 92
Netherlands 77
United States
40

As you can see, here in the United States, only 40% of our population is covered by public health care. I see that as a major problem.

Also, the countries with a higher percent of population covered have a longer life expectancy.

Anyway, back on topic.

Reason number two, my little bother is an asthmatic, while his is already covered by the government, who knows where we would be if he was not.

MANY families have to choose between getting heath care for their child or food.

Do you see the problem?

  1. The problem with getting National Health care is the GOP. So how do we convince them is the question? To do this we must understand them.
“I’ve got mine” and “whats yours will be mine ” do seem to be the main GOP memes. Racism, States Rights, Traditional Values, and Abortion are all issues the GOP uses as wedge issues to separate the Rubes from the rest of us.
Because unless you are a millionaire what benefits the GOP does not benefit you. But the GOP uses these wedge issues to say this wedge issue is more important than health care or a living wage. The Rubes being authoritarian types do respond to being included in the in group and like uniting/attacking the out groups even if it means putting their own real interests second. Which explains why living standards have declined since the 70’s.
Obviously we must ignore the Rubes they will do whatever their masters want in the end.
We need to shape our appeal to Mitt Romney a rich GOPer who runs Bain Capitol a hedge fund a man who does not believe the GOP propaganda but he will say or do anything to get into power.
Mitt has Hispanics cutting his lawn he could pay whites to do it but that would cost him more money.
Now suppose one of the many new antibiotic resistant diseases becomes very virulent and starts spreading, its only a matter of time.
Wouldn’t it be great if we had a National Health Care system then?
People who feel sick could take a paid day off work and see the Doctor. Rather than stay at work and infect all their coworkers and customers.
My nightmare is a sick McDonalds worker who works a 12 hr shift at O’Hare the worlds busiest airport over the holidays and spreads antibody resistant TB to customers who take the disease all over the country infecting everybody breathing the same air on the planes.
On the one hand we have sick people seeking treatment as soon as they get sick giving Doctors time to identify the disease and track its spread early.
With our current system the Doctors don’t find out until someone with insurance gets sick enough that they have to take a unpaid day off work.
By the time that happens how far would the disease spread?
Remember even the Rich are not immune to antibiotic resistant diseases.
Now the question is just how much does Mitt love his family.
Sure its a mean question but considering he and I’m sure his friends and neighbors have not only poor but undocumented workers cutting their lawns, cooking their food, being nannies for their kids well I’m sure Mitt’s wife cares about her servants health.
Because their health affects her! We need to make the GOP aware National Health Care affects THEM.
That is the lever we need to convince them!

  2. OT some GOP tool just said water boarding is not torture I think water boarding should be a punishment for corporate crimes like war profiteering.
