NY high school kids talk about Obama, race and politics

The kids I know have a lot of opinions about race, but I’d say that in my HS, only about 30% of the kids care at all about politics, and most of them don’t know a lot about the issues. Most opinions are no more complicated that “Dude, that ain’t right.” or “Well he’s a […]

Democratic or Republican?

In the past 8 (almost) years, we have had quite a bad taste of a”Republican Rule,” and I use the term “Rule” strictly. I think you can all understand where I am coming from if you have seen anything in the
news over the past years. Bush and his administration is nothing but corruption.
That being said…

Why Hillary?

YouTube - Link to: Hillary Ad using Ann Richards

Dan Solis from ThinkYouth  (who is formerly one of our editors and founders) sent me this video along with this note:
If this doesn’t get you motivated to endorse Hillary on your blog, I don’t know what will.
I gotta admit, this video made me tear up a bit. Have […]

Old enough for 10,000 votes?

Yesterday Alex wrote about his first vote now that he’s 18, his first participation in a caucus. Daisy, who used to blog with us, is also old enough to vote for the first time this year. (I still have a few years yet.) Do you think they’re old enough […]

Nebraska Caucus Experience

Over the weekend, I took part in the first Nebraska Democratic Caucus in over 40 years. I have to say, despite a lack of funding from the Nebraska Democratic Party and the ill-preparedness of the caucus sites, it was a very unique experience.
Early estimates put the turn out at my site as only 17 […]

Obama wins everything this weekend

So far, Barack Obama has already won Washington State and Nebraska caucuses this weekend, as well as Louisiana and the Virgin Islands. Maine’s caucus results are not yet complete, but this is what MSNBC has so far:

NBC projects Obama will win Maine caucuses
With 59 percent of votes counted, he had 57 percent to Clinton’s […]

Huckabee, the Constitution and the News

Would someone please tell me why the story about Huckabee wanting to change the Constitution and start a theocracy here is NOT in regular newspapers?  I am not allowed to use AlterNet or TPM or the blogs as sources for weekly “current events in politics” assignments.  And if it isn’t even news for a high […]

John Edwards WINS in Iowa

OK, he didn’t get the biggest percentage of delegates from the caucuses, but he did win by beating Hillary. He also showed that people want change and that you can get a lot of votes without having to spend zillions of dollars.
Congratulations Mr. Edwards!
Here is his campaign website.
